    The solid asphalt melter is a heat exchange device. The solid asphalt material receives external heat energy through the melter, thereby increasing in temperature and melting. According to the material characteristics, it is divided into particle asphalt melter and block asphalt melter; according to the heating medium, it is classified as direct heating type melter (using coal, fuel gas, or fuel oil) and heat transfer oil melter (including electric heating melter); according to the structure type of the melter, it is divided into vertical melter and horizontal melter; according to the form of the heating tubes, it is divided into tube bundle type and coil type.

    Generally, the melting capacity is large (2 to 10 t/h), and a vertical coil structure is adopted; for smaller melting capacity (1 to 2 t/h), a horizontal tube bundle structure is used; for very small melting capacity (for testing purposes to 100 to 1000 kg/h), an electric heating structure is used. For block asphalt, an intermittent (discontinuous) tube bundle structure is generally adopted.
